Tara Hamilton led the special meeting to plan for an Economic Development Officer for the region.
The group worked together to create a draft job description that would fit CAEDA’s needs, with sections including Community Development, Business Development, and Skills and Knowledge. Tara will put together a draft job description to reflect what the group worked on, to be reviewed at the May 18th, 2011 regular CAEDA meeting.
The group also discussed potential salary, work location and other expenses. The group thought having a full-time position was a better option and that the salary would be around $50,000, plus $5,000 administrative expenses and $5000 for other expenses ($60,000 total). Tara asked the group to take these numbers back to their respective Councils to determine what each Municipality would be willing to provide in terms of payment, space/administration, and equipment for the year 2012. Funding for the first year could be an option through Trillium, but there needs to be a plan for the following years. CAEDA will discuss options for distribution of paying the salary at another meeting.
