The meeting was called to order at 9:35 am by Chair Merlyn Snow.

 

General Discussion:

 

The committee began with discussing 9-1-1 numbering along the new Highway 124. Ron Bennison was able to find out from the OPP that keeping the current numbering on Highway 11, when the change to 124 occurs, would be a large concern due to repetition in the local municipalities.  Fire Chief Beavis informed the group that the South River/Machar Chief also has some concerns with repetition of numbering. The Recording Secretary provided the group with the following information regarding current numbering along the 124:

 

 

Numbering along the Highway 124  has crossed back over with repeat numbers, but the group felt they should only be concerned with the local area remaining consistent to assist the Emergency Response teams. The group suggested starting numbering at 10,000 at the new 124 section, to continue up through to Township of Machar at Goreville Road. Township of Strong’s Clerk and Recording Secretary were advised to contact Bell to assist with numbering the new Highway 124 as soon as possible.

 

The Recording Secretary circulated a draft letter to the MTO regarding Central Almaguin signage at the entrance and exit of the area for input. The letter was amended as requested and signed by the Chair.

 

Correspondence:

 

The Recording Secretary reminded the group about a circulated email from Tara Hamilton regarding Tourism Development Fund applications. She will get more information about deadlines to update the group.

New Business:

 

Elgin Schneider advised the group that Sundridge wants to wait until a funding formula is created for an Economic Development Officer before committing to a specific amount of money to contribute. Discussion will continue at the next CAEDA meeting regarding creating a formula.
