Minutes
of the meeting of Apr. 15, 2008 taken by Deb Kurtzer-Johnston
In
attendance: Fred DiSomma, Deb Kurtzer-Johnston,
Patti Bantten, Bill Atkinson and Tom Crane.
Tom showed
us the newest updated Business Directory booklet with the latest
corrections.
The final
version is planned to be released at the Open Houses in May.
Bill
Atkinson suggested that the booklet needed some sub categories in the index to
make it clearer what the section contained. Tom agreed to do this. Bill also
offered to proofread the booklet for spelling and/or other errors. Bill also
suggested that the CABC website be linked to Google so that people can find it.
Some
other ideas were to have a photo contest for the next booklet, as well as
adding maps and attractions in the area.
It was
agreed that Tom would print at least 500 booklets for the May Open Houses,
but Fred asked if he thought that more were needed that he could print more.
Those present agreed.
A
discussion regarding the plans for the Open Houses ensued, and Fred said that
after he attended the CAEDA Meeting on Thurs., Apr. 17, things would be more clear. Fred plans to phone all of the businesses in the
Directory and invite them to the Open House. Deb will publish it in her column
and Fred will pass on the details to Pearl Pennell.
Tom will find out how to get the Open House on the town sign in Sundridge.
Plans for
the next goals for CABC beginning in September include: Highway Signage; pursue
the Visitor Information Centre at the new cloverleaf at Hwy. 124; Trade Shows;
Coupon Booklets for local businesses; possible mentoring to get young people to
start businesses in the area; and a plastic telephone book cover.
The next
meeting is scheduled for Sept. 16, 2008, at 7 p.m. at the Sundridge
Community Centre.
Meeting
ended at 8:50 p.m
